Since his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2007, Lawrence “Larry” Brownlee has become a leading figure in opera, both as a bel canto specialist on the world’s top stages, and as a voice for activism and diversity in the industry. Brownlee joins host Oliver Camacho during a benchmark season, having sung his first French Baroque role (Platée) in Paris; having spearheaded Opera Philadelphia’s production of Rossini’s Otello; and preparing his return to the Met in The Magic Flute. He sings the title role in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory at Lyric Opera this month.
Watch Lawrence Brownlee and his Otello co-star Khanyiso Gwenxane perform a thrilling duet below.
