Pomp, splendor, and glory were requisites when past rulers ascended the British throne, among them, George II, for whom Handel wrote his “Coronation Anthems.” Justin Doyle leads the Berlin Academy for Ancient Music, the RIAS Chamber Choir, and soprano Aoife Miskelly in all four of the “Coronation Anthems,” along with other celebratory fare by Orlando Gibbons, William Croft, John Blow, and Henry Purcell. Tonight’s program was recorded live in concert October 25, 2022 in Berlin’s Konzerthaus.

Thanks to WFMT’s association with the European Broadcasting Union, tonight’s program will be available as a stream for 30 days following the broadcast. A blue “Listen” button will appear when the link is accessible.
