Four of today’s best-known organ virtuosos – Olivier Latry (France), Shin-Young Lee (Korea/France), Guy Bovet (Switzerland,) and Hans-Ola Ericsson (Sweden) – try to outplay one another in a light-hearted competition of Who Played it Better? They’re all winners, of course, and so are we, as the organists share their unique interpretations of familiar works by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Tonight’s program was recorded live in concert August 10, 2022 as pat of the Lahti International Organ Festival, held each summer in late July and early August. This concert was held in Lahti, Finland’s Church of the Cross, built in 1978 and designed by Alvar Aalto. The church’s fifty-three stop organ, built the following year was designed by Finnish organ builder Veikko Virtanen.

Thanks to WFMT’s association with the European Broadcasting Union, we’re able to offer this program as a stream for thirty days following the broadcast. a blue “Listen” button will appear when the link is accessible.
