Grammy Award-winning tenor Aaron Sheehan is internationally recognized as a leading interpreter of baroque repertoire. A specialist in the haute-contre or high tenor roles of the French Baroque, the recording of his performance in the title role of Charpentier’s La Descente d’Orphée aux Enfers with Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF) won the Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording. Sheehan’s discography includes numerous haute-contre roles performed with BEMF and the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. His Handelian repertoire on disc includes the role of Jonathan in Handel’s Saul, Acis in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, and a solo album of arias from Handel oratorios. He joined Oliver from last summer’s Boston Early Music Festival to describe his approach to Handel and haute-contre repertoire.

Aaron Sheehan stars in the BEMF Chamber Opera Series presentation of  John Frederick Lampe’s  The Dragon of Wantley later this month.
