2024 marks Baroque&Before’s tenth anniversary. Composers and violinists Jean-Marie Leclair, Giovanni Pietro Ghignone, and Louis-Gabriel Guillemain dominated the court of Louis XV in Paris. One was murdered, another committed suicide, and the third was considered a mendacious schemer. On this week’s edition of Baroque&Before, Baroque violinists Johannes Pramsohler and Roldán Bernabé, both of the Paris Ensemble Diderot, look for clues to the inner and outer conflicts in the music of the three aforementioned eighteenth-century virtuosos.
