The Ravinia Steans Music Institute is an international destination for young professional musicians devoted to uniquely honing and advancing their talents as collaborative artists. RSMI’s Program for Singers offers 15 singers annually an opportunity to delve deeply into the vast repertoire of art song for three weeks. Fellows work with a faculty of distinguished musicians, pedagogues, and scholars on varied aspects of the musical tradition, including style, technique, language, diction, dramaturgy, performance, and career preparation. Many of the program’s alumni have cultivated highly visible and successful careers. This week, Kevin Murphy, Artistic Director of the RSMI Program for Singers, joins WFMT to talk about this oasis for the study and performance of art song at Ravinia Festival. See the schedule for this season’s events HERE.
