Chosen by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Leonard Bernstein conducts a performance from March 21, 1964. Anselmo Colzani stars as the caddish knight Falstaff, gleefully tormented by a trio of clever women who deliver his comeuppance, in Verdi’s glorious Shakespearean comedy. Gabriella Tucci (Alice), Regina Resnik (Quickly), Mario Sereni (Ford), Judith Raskin (Nannetta), Luigi Alva (Fenton), and Rosalind Elias (Meg) round out the cast.
