In this recital we welcome first-year Ensemble soprano Emily Richter, and second-year mezzo-soprano Lucy Baker who will be collaborating with pianist Michael Banwarth. They will be heard in works by Samuel Barber, Florence Price, and H.T. Burleigh. Lucy will also be featured in a set of four songs by the Austrian born Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who is best known for his movies scores. A master songsmith as well, in his Lieder des Abschieds, you can hear the full romanticism of his music in light hearted and somber songs. Emily will perform Russian art songs by Sergei Rachmaninoff, which give both the singer and pianist plenty of opportunities for deep expressiveness as well as virtuosity.
