Music for baritone and bass-baritone is in store for our next Ryan Opera Center Recital. Third-year baritone Ian Rucker will be heard in Poulenc’s Calligrammes based on the visual poetry of French poet Guillaume Apollinaire and will delight us in a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s hit song “You and I”. Second-year bass-baritone Christopher Humbert, Jr. brings us an aria from William Grant Still’s opera Highway One USA and will show us the beauty of “Pure Imagination”, a song made famous from the movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Also featured are compositions by Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Franz Schubert. Michael Banwarth joins on the piano.
