An encore presentation of WFMT’s conversation with Lisette Oropesa on the occasion of her Lyric Opera debut. While Mozart is a specialty of hers, in 2023 Chicagoans were able to experience the Cuban-American soprano in the bel canto repertoire in which she is sought-after by opera companies all over the world. Her 2018 debut in Lucia di Lammermoor at Madrid’s Teatro Real brought her to international attention, drawing comparisons to the legendary interpreters of the Donizetti tragedienne. Oropesa joined WFMT to talk about her approach to singing Mozart and bel canto.

Watch Lisette Oropesa in her breakout performance of Lucia di Lammermoor.
