Christopher Tin is a two-time Grammy-winning composer and conductor whose music has been performed in many of the world’s most prestigious venues — Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Hollywood Bowl, and the United Nations — and by ensembles as diverse as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Metropole Orkest, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and US Air Force Band. His song “Baba Yetu” holds the distinction of being the first piece of music written for a video game (Civilization IV) ever to win a Grammy Award. He was commissioned by Washington National Opera to compose a new ending to Puccini’s Turandot which premiered in 2024 and went on to be featured as the accompaniment to Yuma Kagiyama’s free skate program at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Christopher Tin joins WFMT to share selections from his latest album of choral works called Song Offerings, music from his Grammy-nominated “extinction elegy” The Lost Birds, and the new Turandot finale.
