WFMT’s flagship full-length recital series presents music and conversation performed live from the state-of-the-art Fay and Daniel Levin Performance Studio. The program draws on the rich community of Chicago-based musicians as well as a roster of renowned international artists visiting the city.
Rachel Barton Pine, violin & Matt Hagle, piano
Tune into Live From WFMT to hear Chicago-based international violin virtuoso Rachel Barton Pine in a live concert broadcast with frequent collaborator, pianist Matt Hagle. The program will feature repertoire the duo will perform at the Kennedy Center just a couple days prior.
Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues
Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues blends the boundaries between classical chamber music, American blues, Indian Carnatic percussion, and virtuosity from many other people and cultures. Louise Frank sits in for Kerry Frumkin as the ebullient harmonica player and composer returns to WFMT with his virtuosic ensemble.
Matt Hagle, piano
Pianist Matt Hagle presents the last program in his 3-recital traversal of the complete late piano music of Brahms. This Live From WFMT broadcast will include the Brahms Op. 76 and 119 sets, as well as shorter pieces by Fauré and Schönberg.
Uniting Voices Chicago
Uniting Voices Chicago (formerly Chicago Children’s Choir) empowers and unites youth from diverse backgrounds to find their voice and celebrate their common humanity through the power of music. Tonight, members of the illustrious young persons’ choral ensemble demonstrate why this high-caliber group has thrived as a vital Chicago institution for more than 65 years.
