Meet the Hosts

Lisa Flynn  

Lisa Flynn has been a program host and producer for WFMT since 1991. As the midday weekday announcer, she presents The New Releases, hosts live studio performances and interviews guest artists, including Renée Fleming, John Adams, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. She has hosted many programs for the WFMT Radio Network, including War Letters (2002 Peter Lisagor Award winner), as well as live broadcasts from Salzburg for Mozart’s 250th birthday and Warsaw for the International Chopin Piano Competition. She also co-hosts the Lyric Opera of Chicago Broadcasts. Before coming to Chicago, Lisa presented classical music in Columbus, Ohio, and Orlando, Florida. She holds a music degree from the University of Central Florida.

Roger Pines  

Roger Pines, co-host and co-producer of the Lyric Opera of Chicago broadcasts, is the company’s dramaturg. He also edits the company’s program books, is a frequent public speaker and moderator for Lyric events, and serves as special lecturer/consultant for the Ryan Opera Center. Roger previously held positions at San Diego Opera, the Dallas Opera, and Glimmerglass Opera. A regular contributor to many important American and European publications --  among them Opera News, Opera magazine, and The Times (London) – as well as for programs of leading opera companie. Roger has written program notes for CDs on seven major labels (including releases by Renée Fleming, Cecilia Bartoli, Joyce DiDonato, Anna Netrebko, and Jonas Kaufmann). He has been a panelist on the Met broadcasts’ “Opera Quiz” annually since 2006.
