At the age of 19, Marc Minkowski founded Les Musiciens du Louvre. The pioneering ensemble originally specialized in and expanded French Baroque repertoire and Handel before delving Classical and Romantic repertoires on period instruments. While continuing to lead his own orchestra, Minkowski has gone on to conduct opera in the major European houses and guest conduct the world’s most renowned orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In advance of his debut with Music of the Baroque, the renowned French conductor joins WFMT to share his approach to the three composers featured on the program he will lead in Chicago: Handel, Rameau, and Mozart.
The Académie Équestre de Versailles and the Musiciens du Louvre perform Mozart.
